Anger can be an extremely disruptive and damaging emotion. If not controlled and managed correctly, it may have severe negative effects on the affected persons ability to think clearly and rationally. It may also severely effect the persons relationships. When anger occurs too often, is too strong, is long lasting and leads to aggression and violence, the affected person will need to seek professional help to manage this potentially harmful and damaging emotion. If your anger interferes with your work, family and friends or other personal relationships, it may be time to seek help. Managing and controlling anger does not mean that the affected person becomes a wimp or a pushover. Nor does it involve hiding or suppressing your emotions. Learning to keep anger at moderate levels may reduce the otherwise high costs of uncontrolled outbursts. Development of arousal reduction techniques, negotiation skills, relaxation and problem solving skills will all play their part in a coordinated treatment plan, if you seek assistance from your doctor and associated health care professionals. If you do suffer from very strong feelings of anger, or become very angry on a regular basis, or if your anger lasts for long periods, please talk to your doctor about this as soon as possible. Please take this positive step and seek professional help, so as to avoid the risk of these problematic feelings leading to more chronic feelings of remorse, depression and anxiety. The quality of your interpersonal relationships and life in general, will definitely improve, by correctly managing this most complex and potentially damaging of emotions. Good luck with your recovery and future good health.
